Susannah Greenslit is a professional horn player based in Denver, Colorado. She holds an undergraduate degree in horn performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with Richard King, former principal horn of the Cleveland Orchestra. She then went on to complete her master’s degree at the University of Southern California with Julie Landsman, former principal horn of the MET Opera. Susannah is a proud Conn 8D performer, having fallen in love with its purity of tone through her education in Cleveland and Los Angeles.

Prior to her collegiate studies, Susannah was a member of the National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellowship program at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. This immersion in orchestral music, along with her formative studies with James Nickel (3rd Horn of the NSO), inspired her to pursue a career in performance. Upon her graduation from the program, Susannah was chosen as the 2017 recipient of the Stevens Brewster Award.

Other foundational experiences include her work with Sylvia Alimena through the Brass of Peace ensemble, her studies with Carolyn Wahl through the Kinhaven Music School, and her early training with Amanda Collins Escalante, her first horn teacher, who set her up wonderfully for a lifetime of horn playing.

Susannah’s festival appearances include the Music Academy of the West, the New York String Orchestra Seminar, the Colorado College Summer Music Festival, the Bowdoin International Music Festival Horn Fellowship, and the National Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Institute. She appeared as the horn soloist in the Miami Classical Musical Festival’s 2019 performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 5. She also held the Assistant Principal Horn Fellowship with the American Youth Symphony.

Susannah has extensive teaching experience working with students of all ages, goals, and ability levels. She is passionate about advocating for equity in the arts and expanding access to music education. Currently, she is a Volunteer Fellow with the ArtistYear AmeriCorps program, through which she serves students at Denver-area Title I schools, creating musical opportunities that build confidence and community. During her years as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder, she worked in depth with performance majors, teaching applied lessons, leading studio classes, and facilitating mock auditions. One of her proudest achievements during her time at CU was the development of a lecture recital tracing the influence of American spirituals across decades and genres, culminating in a performance of Richard Bissill’s blues-inspired work, Song of a New World.

In her free time, Susannah enjoys board games, cross-stitching, hiking, and long-distance running, having recently completed her first marathon.
